Jerry Rawling’s death not covid-19 related- family says

The family of the former president of Ghana has made it clear that late Jerry Rawlings died after a brief illness and not as a result of covid-19.

Jerry’s death was confirmed by his family on Thursday morning. The former presidents family in a statement said “It is with deep sadness that the family of His Excellency Jerry John Rawlings (Rtd), informs the general public that the former President of the Republic died on Thursday morning after a short illness.

“We request privacy at this difficult moment. Details of funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.”

Ghanaian  government has declared a seven days mourning for the former President who served the country well.

Husband drags wife to court over improper dressing

Rowland Ogunebo on Thursday has sued his wife before a customary court in Ibadan, on the grounds of improper dressing and adultery.

Mr Rowland said in court” I can no longer live with Blessing. She has no regards for any of my family members.

“She does not dress like a married and responsible housewife. She wears mini-skirts and other skimpy dresses.

Whenever I asked her to change, she rains insults on me,” he said.

Blessing the wife opposed the suit and said ”I still love my husband because we have two children together. My husband hates the way I dress because he is not fashionable,”.

The magistrate of the court Henry Agbaje, adjourned the matter until Dec. 3 for the couple to produce more evidence. he advised the couple to remain calm till the new court date.

Nigerian traders in Ghana begs the Federal Government to evacuate them back Home

Nigerian traders in Ghana on Wednesday has begged the federal government to please evacuate them from Ghana.

The traders through the Chairman of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission(NiDOM), Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, wrote a letter to the federal government requesting for an urgent, peaceful return to Nigeria.

Another signatory to the letter  Mr Gabriel Odu  the media, public relations and protocol Unit of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission(NiDOM) , said the traders had two associations where they belong to the Nigerian Union of Traders in Ghana (NUTAG) and the National Association of Traders (NANTS).

Mr Odu said that the letter was endorsed by 753 traders from the two associations. In the letter they said that the increase harassments, intimidation, high taxes and treat to live that they have witnessed, it resulted to a total shut down of their businesses in Ghana.

They said “Diplomatic niceties at the highest level between Nigeria and Ghana have not yielded positive results.

“Landlords are coming to ask us for rent. How do we pay with our shops locked up for so long? We are dying here”, the traders lamented in the letter.

Mrs Abike said that some shops have been shut down for more than a year due to the regulations by Ghanaian Government, she further pleaded with Nigerian authorities to please respond and treat this letter with utmost importance.

Umahi gives condition to remain in PDP

The Executive Governor of Ebonyi state Dave Umahi has given the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) conditions for him to remain in the party.

Prince Uche Secondus the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) met with Dave Umahi on Tueday  to urge him to remain with the party , following the growing speculation of the governor joining the ruling party All Progressive Party(APC).

Umahi insisted that nobody is pressurizing him to join APC, he feels that APC will give south easterns a chance to be president which PDP is not ready to.

He said”“ if it is (Ike) Ekweremadu, they can give the ticket; if it is Peter Obi, they can give; if it is Okezie Ikpeazu, they can give; if it is Ifeanyi Uguanyi, they can give. But they must stop taking the south-east for granted.”

Some members of the PDP National working committee said “What they are saying is that, who sent him? When did they discuss that, that even the people that he mentioned to the party like Ekweremadu, like Peter Obi, is he in conversation with them and they told him to go and fight their cause?
