WWE Monday Raw results 23rd February 2021

Here are the results for yesterday’s Monday night raw

Lashley secures a shot at WWE title
The Miz opened the show with a special championship celebration of “Miz TV.” Miz talked about calling his shot and creating a detour on the Road to WrestleMania before being interrupted by Bobby Lashley and MVP. Lashley was looking to call in Miz’s debt for giving Miz the assist in putting down McIntyre at Elimination Chamber to open the door for the Money in the Bank cash-in. Lashley gave Miz one hour to make his decision, threatening a beating either way. Backstage, Miz pitched Adam Pearce to delay any action on a match with Lashley “until the time is right.” (WWE Monday Raw)

When the hour was up, Miz said he needed more time and that there are many other men who want to challenge him for the title. Finally, Miz said he needed time to be ready, asking to pencil in the decision for next week. Braun Strowman’s music hit as he interrupted the situation and said he’s the only man who would be receiving a title match while claiming Shane McMahon and Adam Pearce were conspiring against him. This, in turn, brought out McMahon. McMahon told Strowman he couldn’t demand title matches. Strowman said if he couldn’t have the champ, he wanted the challenger. This led McMahon to book the match, saying if Strowman beat Lashley, then next week’s Raw would feature a triple threat match for the WWE championship.

Bobby Lashley def. Braun Strowman via pinfall after hitting a spear. The match immediately broke into a brawl between the powerhouses, showcasing heavy striking and big shows of strength. Lashley attacked Strowman earlier in the night, taking out his knee, and went back at the legs again after Strowman ran into the ring steps. Before Strowman could really get going, Lashley won the fairly short match with a spear. After the win, Lashley hit another spear and locked in the Hurt Lock. Miz tried to rush the ring and hit Lashley with the championship belt only to be hit with a spinebuster and a spear, ending the show standing tall after cementing his shot at the title on next week’s Raw. Riddle def. John Morrison via pinfall after hitting Bro Derek. Prior to the match, Riddle celebrated his United States championship win backstage with Lucha House Party.
The New Day def. Retribution via pinfall after Kofi Kingston hit T-Bar with Trouble in Paradise. After the match, Mustafa Ali yelled at the members of retribution for their repeated failures.

The Hurt Business def. Lucha House Party via pinfall in a tornado tag match when Shelton Benjamin hit Lince Dorado with Paydirt. (WWE Monday Raw)

Damien Priest def. Angel Garza via pinfall with Hit the Lights. Bad Bunny was in Priest’s corner, and earlier in the night Priest scared away R-Truth when Truth was trying to attack Bunny to win back the 24/7 championship. After the match, Priest and Bunny quickly dealt with the charge of a number of 24/7 challengers.

Randy Orton cut a backstage promo addressing all of his recent failures. He ultimately concluded that he was not distracted by The Fiend, but rather by Alexa Bliss. Orton then began coughing and spit out black gunk before running off. (WWE Monday Raw)

Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler def. Charlotte Flair & Asuka via pinfall after Jax hit Asuka with a leg drop. The finish was set up when miscommunication led Flair to hit Asuka with a big boot. Flair tried to shake Asuka’s hand after the match, but Asuka shoved her away.

Sheamus def. Jeff Hardy via pinfall after hitting a Brogue Kick.

Charlotte Flair confronted Ric Flair backstage. Charlotte told Ric that his antics with Lacey Evans — including pretending her baby was his — had been distracting her and causing her to not perform up to her standards. Ric said he was just trying to expand their brand by being behind a future champion in Evans. (WWE Monday Raw)

Lana & Naomi def. Dana Brooke & Mandy Rose via pinfall after hitting a double-team facebuster on Rose.

AJ Styles def. Ricochet via pinfall with the Styles Clash. Omos hit Ricochet with a double-handed chokeslam after the match. (WWE Monday Raw)

WWE Elimination chamber matches and Results

Here are the results for the WWE Elimination chamber pay per view.

Daniel Bryan def. Kevin Owens, Jey Uso, Sami Zayn, Cesaro & Baron Corbin (Elimination Chamber)
This match felt extremely long, and that hurts because it wasn’t necessarily bad. But with so much filler time between competitors exiting the pod, it just wasn’t particularly engaging.

Elimination Chamber matches are challenging to pull off if there aren’t any storylines between the competitors. And outside of Owens vs. Uso and Bryan vs. Cesaro, there wasn’t a lot of story to tell other than Bryan fighting a knee injury. Strangely, that didn’t factor into the decision. (WWE Elimination chamber)

Eliminations started with Cesaro forcing Corbin to submit with a sharpshooter and Owens getting rid of Zayn with a Stunner. Uso shockingly eliminated Owens after trapping his arm in the chamber and landing a bevy of superkicks before a splash to get the pinfall.

That might mean Owens and Uso will be involved in a feud at WrestleMania. Cesaro’s momentum was ground to a halt when Uso eliminated him after a superkick during a giant swing that was followed by another splash.

But Bryan got the last laugh by hitting Uso with the running knee to secure the pin and then challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal title.

Roman Reigns def. Daniel Bryan to retain WWE Universal championship
With Bryan beaten down, Reigns immediately attempted a spear but was reversed into a Yes Lock. A fresh Reigns was able to power out of the hold and obliterate Bryan with ground and pound. A powerbomb and a guillotine followed to put an end to the squash match.

But the real story was Edge making his decision to challenge Reigns at WrestleMania by spearing him afterward. (WWE Elimination chamber)

Riddle def. Bobby Lashley and John Morrison for United States championship
This match had a last-minute change: Keith Lee was removed because of injury and replaced by Morrison, who won a fatal four-way match on the preshow. The bout suffered without Lee, but now WWE has a chance to make Riddle the star he seems destined to be.

Riddle has spent the last few weeks getting rag-dolled by Lashley and has been stuck with an aloof persona that hasn’t done much to show that he is an excellent wrestler. Maybe WWE will pull the trigger now because he certainly has “it.”

Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler def. Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair to retain WWE women’s tag team championships

Banks and Belair showed fantastic chemistry against the champions, but once Reginald — who inexplicably has split from Carmella — appeared, the match was doomed.

Reginald made his way to the ring with a bottle of champagne and then rolled it into the ring while Banks had Jax in the Bank Statement. Why? Nobody knows.

Banks turned back Reginald’s help and was met with a Samoan Drop from Jax for the pin. (WWE Elimination chamber)

Drew McIntyre def. Jeff Hardy, Randy Orton, Kofi Kingston, Sheamus and AJ Styles to retain WWE championship
In the second Elimination Chamber match of the night, McIntyre successfully defended his title with a fantastic finish, intercepting Styles’ Phenomenal Forearm out of midair with a Claymore Kick.

The match had strange ebbs and flows to it. There were moments like Kingston eliminating Orton first and some solid chemistry between Styles and McIntyre. But it also had moments that lacked logic, such as Styles inexplicably entering himself into the match to try to take advantage of Orton RKO’ing Kingston and Hardy after being eliminated. It was also odd having Kingston and Hardy do little more than jump off things.

Earlier in the night, we saw The Miz conversing with MVP and it became obvious that something would take place after the match. That bit of information sucked any drama out of it.

Hardy met his demise after eating a Claymore Kick from McIntyre, Kingston was sent packing via a Brogue Kick by Sheamus, and Styles nailed Sheamus with the Phenomenal Forearm to narrow the field to two.

But, as mentioned earlier, the finish wasn’t in doubt. That didn’t make it any less remarkable to see McIntyre’s Claymore Kick land as he retained the title.

But then we had what took place after the match . . .

The Miz def. Drew McIntyre for the WWE championship by cashing in his money in the bank contract after a gruesome attack on McIntyre by Bobby Lashley. (WWE Elimination chamber)

Here are the results for yesterday’s smackdown

Bryan Kevin Owens & Cesaro def. Sami Zayn, Jey Uso & King Corbin via submission. Bryan got the win for the babyface team after making Zayn tap to the YES! Lock. Chaos ensued in the ring between the participants, leading up to Edge entering the ring from commentary and spearing Uso. The final message heading toward Elimination Chamber would be delivered by the champ, however, as Reigns emerged and laid out Edge with a spear of his own to close the show. (Smackdown wrestling)

While matchups against WWE champion Drew McIntyre or even NXT champion Finn Balor are enticing, it’s abundantly clear the match to spotlight inside Raymond James Stadium come April is Edge challenging Reigns for the universal title. Friday night was more proof of that as the energy between the two and the excitement they bring when in the ring together are undeniable. After tonight’s attack, Edge will no doubt be gunning for the “Head of the Table” after Reigns likely comes out of Elimination Chamber still reigning champion upon defeating one of the six men who were featured in the main event. What else happened on SmackDown?
Shinsuke Namakura def. Apollo Crews via pinfall. Big E, who was on commentary, stopped Crews from using the steel steps during a post-match attack on the outside. Instead, Crews nailed the intercontinental champion with the steps from behind as he was attending to Nakamura. After Big E rolled to the outside and the referee pleaded with Crews to drop the steps he was then holding over his head, he dropped them to the outside onto the champ.
Seth Rollins was out to cut a promo on the stage. He said every one of his friends turned their backs on him by walking out last week before he called on a video package to relive the moment. He called it unacceptable in the workplace and revealed that he’s taking legal action because his moment was ruined by a “bunch of losers.” Rollins finished by calling out Cesaro for being the biggest loser of them all and telling everyone to “embrace the vision.”

Tamina & Natalya def. The Riott Squad via pinfall. Billie Kay was out during the match and tried to celebrate with the winners, but she was laid out by Tamina.

Rey Mysterio & Dominik Mysterio def. Otis & Chad Gable via disqualification after Otis failed to break a five count. Post-match, Otis hit Rey Mysterio with a splash off the top rope as Gable held the legend down. (Smackdown wrestling)
