Buhari mourns as Boko Haram kills over 40 Borno farmers- Punch NG.
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari(retd), has expressed grief over the killing of over 40 farmers on rice fields at Zabarmari, Jere Local Government Area of Borno State.
He described the insurgents’ action as senseless.
Buhari’s position on the killings was contained in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, titled, ‘President Buhari condemns as insane, Boko Haram killing of farmers in Borno State.’
Boko Haram had on Saturday reportedly killed over 40 rice farmers in Kwashebe village, Jere Local Government Area of Borno State.
The village is near Maiduguri, the state capital.
The terrorists were reported to have first tied up the farmers, who were working in rice fields, before slitting their throats.
A leader of a vigilante group, Babakura Kolo, who helped the survivors after the attack , told AFP that the insurgent group frequently attacked farmers in the area. (Sunday Latest News)
Lagos Leads As Nigeria Records Fresh Coronavirus Cases
Lagos led to the pack on Saturday, after the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) announced fresh coronavirus cases in Nigeria.
The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Saturday evening, 28th November 2020, confirmed 110 new cases of coronavirus disease infection in Nigeria.
Naija News reports that the new cases of COVID-19 infection were confirmed via a statement on the official Twitter handle of the health agency.
The development brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to 67,330 which includes 62,819 discharged cases and 1,171 deaths.
Below is the breakdown of the latest cases according to states with Lagos recording the highest number of new confirmed cases, followed by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Kaduna.

Boko Haram allegedly beheads 43 farmers in Borno
The Boko Haram sect has allegedly committed the gruesome murder of innocent civilians.
HumAngle reported Saturday night that the terrorists beheaded 43 farmers.
The massacre occurred today in Zabarmari, less than 20 km from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
Corpses of the victims have arrived in Zabarmari village, Jere Local Government Area. (Sunday Latest News)
Residents claim they are waiting for Governor Babagana Zulum to see the bodies and address them.
The military spokesman didn’t take calls as at press time.
Amotekun rescues kidnapped wife of Akeredolu’s Chief of Staff-
Kidnapped wife of the Chief of Staff to Ondo State governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale, has been rescued by the personnel of the Amotekun corps in the state.
Some of the kidnappers were reportedly arrested by the personnel of the security outfit.
Mrs Ale was kidnapped at Owena in ldanre on Thursday night while travelling from Lagos to Akure by the bandits who laid siege on the highway and took her into the forest. It was gathered that the ugly incident happened very close to the military checkpoint in the town. (Sunday Latest News)
Vanguard gathered that men of the Amotekun corps swung into action immediately the kidnap case was reported to them. The security outfit in collaboration with local hunters and vigilante in the area reportedly combed the forest in ldanre and the victim was rescued.
Contacted, the commandant of the Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye confirmed the release of the victim. Adetunji promised to brief the press on how the victim was rescued at a later day.
A source in the office of the security outfit confirmed to newsmen that confided some hoodlums were apprehended in connection with the crime and had been transferred to the state capital, Akure for interrogation.
The source said: “I can confirm to you that the wife of the Chief of Staff has secured her freedom and on her way to Akure. “She was released without paying the ransom as she was rescued by Amotekun and local hunters.(Sunday Latest News)
Chief Ale could not be reached for comment but a family source told vanguard that the victim has reunited with her family.
Recall that the abduction of the wife of the governor’s aide came barely 24 hours after a first-class monarch, the Olufon of lfon, Oba Israel Adewusi was murdered by suspected kidnappers at Elegbeke in Ose council area of the state.
His vehicle was riddled with bullets while his driver attempted to escape from the kidnappers. The traditional ruler was returning to his domain after attending the council of Obaship meeting in Akure, the state capital.
The police command spokesman, Tee-Leo Ikoro, could not be reached to confirm the release of the wife of the governor’s aide.
Nigerian Govt unveils new platform for ex- beneficiaries of N-power programme-
A new platform through which former beneficiaries of Federal Government’s N-power programme can apply for various programmes and initiatives for empowerment and job creation being implemented by the Central Bank of Nigeria was unveiled on Saturday. (Sunday Latest News)
The platform, which was developed in collaboration with the CBN, will enable former N-power beneficiaries to log on and apply for the various economic, empowerment and entrepreneurship options provided by the CBN.
Hajiya Sadiyya Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, who revealed this on Saturday appealed to ex- beneficiaries of N- power to log on to the portal and provide the required additional information for possible placements into the various CBN intervention options.
The Minister who said this in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Bashir Alkali said the platform called the NEXIT PORTAL will determine the suitability of the beneficiaries for the CBN affiliated programs.
