Vice President Yemi Osibanjo condemns killings and attacks on protesters.

Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osibanjo has finally spoken on the shootings which occurred at the Lekki toll gate and other attacks on peaceful protesters.

Recall that on tuesday armed soldiers reportedly stormed the Lekki toll gate and fired shots at the peaceful and unarmed protesters. There has been reports and posts of deaths but none has been confirmed. But injuries have been confirmed as the governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo Olu visited some of the injured victims.

President Muhammadu Buhari has not made a statement as regards to this situation.

The president of Ghana had made a statement on the attacks on protesters and he mentioned that he has spoken to President Buhari and that he assured him that he is working on the situation and making sure that the current unrest in the country calms down.

Nigerians have refused to believe this as they have not heard any thing from the president, not a speech, not a tweet. And they are furious that the president would rather speak to a stranger than speak to his own citizens.

The Vice President tweeted on wednesday about the issue and he said,

“my heart goes out to all the victims of the Lekki shootings, and also the policemen and all other men and women who lost their lives in the past few days in different parts of Lagos & other states.

i spoke to some of those in the hospital. The pain of these terrible events is palpable in our towns and cities, and some losses are irreplaceable, but we can and we will get justice for all of them. I stand with Lagos & all other affected states in these trying times.

We pray we will never see a repeat of these tragedies in Jesus name. God bless you all-YO”.
